Blog Assignment #4

Part 1

One goal I have for the second quarter is to make more meaningful art. I want to do this to show that I can make art that I think about rather than just whip onto paper. In order to do this, I will take time in my art to realize the purpose of it and take my time so it will be quality work. I will then make art on another level.

A second goal I have for the quarter is to put a lot of color in my art. More color will make my art more interesting and visually pleasing. I want to learn more techniques about coloring with colored pencils, such as blending colors to make more rich colors. If I can see richer color in my art, I can tell I have reached my goal.

A third goal I have for the quarter is to have better craftsmanship in all my art. I want every piece to demenstrate my best craftsmanship because it looks better and it shows I have put precious time in creating my art. I will just use all the skills I know and apply them to the best of my ability. I will know if I have if I can see improvement in my art from quarter 1 to 2.

AS8 Blog Assignment #3

This quarter, I made 5 projects, 2 digital and 3 drawn, I made for art class. The first was a drawing of the rapper T.I. I used only a pencil and drew a detailed sketch of his face and upper body. I just named it T.I. It is 11.5 in. by 7.5 in. I really liked how it came out and my favorite part of it was the shadings of the shodows. I really like his music so i represented that through drawing him.

My second project I did as a colorful drawing of my nickname, Fish, that I cut out and put on black paper. I used 1 color to color in the letters and all different colors for the backround. i really like the way it looks with the black paper backround. I named it FISH. Its made with colored pencil and markers. It represents part of me because it is my nickname. It is 9.5 in. by 12.5 in.

My third project I did was a digital picture of kevin durant dunking on the moon. I took a picture of Kevin Durant dunking in a game, a picture of the moon , and a picture of anothr rim and put it together to create that image. I used the program Coral Paint Shop Pro to make it. I really liket he concept to it and the look of how it came out. A few of the shaped are painted in a little but I still think it is good. I thought it would be cool and interesting wheni started so that is pretty much why I did it.

My fourth project I did was was an abstract picture of the Air Force 2 shoe. I took a simple picture of the shoe, altered it so the were different views of it, and added digital paint to add creativity. I used Paint Shop Pro to do this project too. I really like how there are differnt parts of the shoe that show in differenet parts of the picture. The painting is a little messy looking but I think it adds to the abstract. I was feeling like it was one of those days to alter an image and see what came out so I did and now I like it.

My fifth and final project of the quarter was a sketch of a human hand. I just used pencil and drew the side view of a hand including all the shadows. I also made a mirror image of the word hand in the backround. I really like that part of it because it draws your eye to differnt parts of the drawing rather than just the hand. I was in and observe kind of mood so I just stared at a picture of a hand a nd drew the things I saw. I really like it the way it turned out.

"Wicked Cool" Art

When I first looked at this picture, I just thought it was a womans face. Then, I looked at it deeper and saw two horses touching in a sunset with mountains in the background. This picture is so interesting because it creates an amazing illusion that I find so intriguing. This piece is by Octavio Ocampo.

Meaningful Art

In my opinion, meaningful art is a lot of differnet things. It's taking pride in what you are making, whether you are drawing something, painting something, or sculpting something, you should take pride in it. It's also taking time in what you do to make sure its to the best of your ability. Scribbling a few lines and shapes without aking any care in it isn' meaningful art. Meaningful art is carefully creating each part of your art piece, and doing it until you feel like you've done wthe best you can do, not until you feel like being finished because you just want to be done with it. Finally, meaningful art is doing something that challenges you as in artist in some way. A smiley face isn't all that meaningful because its a circle, two dots and a curved line. Doing something that takes percision and attention to detail is more meaningful because it takes more effort. Thats what I think meaningful art is.
